Rye Harbour Nature Reserve (Meeting point outside the Discovery Centre)
Overview of the role:
Working as part of a team to meet once a month collecting litter from the beach and reporting larger scale finds. Our beach clean volunteers help to protect marine life, improve our costal environment, and take action for nature.
Type of tasks you will be involved with:
Collecting and safely disposing of litter from specified areas on the reserve and beach. Following safety guidelines to protect yourself, other volunteers and wildlife. Assisting in set up and clearing away. Engaging with staff and members of the public to promote the importance of a cleaner environment.
Experience/Skills Required:
A basic level of fitness to walk for a 2-hour period, with some bending and lifting required. A willingness to work outdoors (mostly on shingle) and in varying weather conditions. Enthusiasm for environmental conservation.
Days/Times we would like you to be available:
Meeting on the 3rd Wednesday of every month (weather dependant) from 10am-12pm

You will have the opportunity to contribute to the ongoing management and improvement of the site for wildlife and people, in support of the Trusts management objectives for the reserve. Travel expenses can be paid in some circumstances. PPE and branded items of clothing are provided. Volunteers are entitled to a free hot drink in our Lime Kiln Cafe whilst on shift.
