Time: 10am – 4pm (Arrival from 9.30am)
VENUE: Oathall Community College, Appledore Gardens, Lindfield, West Sussex, RH16 2AQ
Now in its 31st year, the Sussex Biological Recorders’ Seminar provides a unique opportunity to meet other people from Sussex’s wildlife recording groups, natural history societies and local conservation groups, and find out more about what they’re doing through a vibrant array of stalls and displays.
In celebration of the little creatures making the world go round, this year we’ve got Matthew Shepherd coming to talk to us about soil biodiversity. We’ll hear updates on some fantastic local projects: studying Barn Owls, recording plants in Sussex churchyards and monitoring the changing molluscan fauna of Medmerry. We will be introduced to the world of the Heath Potter Wasp by entomologist and artist John Walters, and Graeme Lyons will be sharing the joy of recording spiders (at the end, so any arachnophobes in the audience will have a chance to slip away quietly). And we’re also hoping to squeeze in a talk on bats.
There is a £4 charge for attending the seminar; tea and coffee will be available at various points through the day at no extra charge. A vegetarian buffet lunch is available for an additional £9.25 per person, or please bring your own lunch if preferred.
Travelling to the venue: There is ample parking on-site. Oathall Community College is a 12 minute walk from Haywards Heath rail station. The nearest bus stop is Summerhill Lane. There is also a covered bike rack for bicycles.
Accessibility: There is level access to the hall and an accessible toilet in an adjacent building.
