Sussex Wildlife Trust offers practical support for the development and use of school wildlife areas. Our workshops are highly practical and will involve working outside in your school grounds
Typical activities include minibeast hunts, pond dipping, observation of invertebrates using our popular video microscope, identification of plants and animals, wildlife parachute games, sensory games and craft activities. We could also help the children develop wildlife friendly areas around the school grounds through bee friendly planting, bird feeders and the construction of wildlife homes.
Children will usually work in small groups, rotating around a selection of activities, led by experienced leaders. All activities are designed to help children foster respect for the environment and to treat animals and plants with care and sensitivity. The days are always hands on.
We are able to work with up to two classes in a day. Our most popular programmes are listed below, however all of these can be adapted or combined to meet the needs of individual schools.Cost: £250 per day / £160 per half day / £100 deposit /discount for the second day
