Treecreepers and Tortoiseshells

25 April 2013 | Posted in Hedgehogs

Sighting from Stephen Watson on 21st April:

We spent some happy minutes today watching a treecreeper working around oak trunks just north of the Offham chalk pit (see photo). We've also seen three Small Tortoiseshells recently. One at the Eastbourne Miniature Steam Railway on the 14th, another in our Lewes front garden the following day and one in Landport Bottom today. I hadn't seen any locally for some years and had heard they are in decline, so it would be nice to think they could be making a comeback.
