Sussex Wildlife Trust
Sussex Wildlife Trust is a conservation charity for everyone who cares about nature in Sussex. We focus on protecting the rich natural life that is found across our towns, countryside, coast and seas. By working alongside local people we create opportunities for us all to connect with nature and for nature to recover and thrive. Together we aim to make sure that future generations living in Sussex will be able to enjoy the sense of wonder and wide range of benefits that a healthy natural environment gives us.
This Wilder Landscapes Support Officer provides an exciting opportunity work alongside our Wilder Landscapes Advisor in optimising the impact of our work on land outside our nature reserves. The post will sit within our Wilder Landscapes Team and will include some collaboration with our Sussex Flow Initiative and Wilder Horsham District projects. The project officer will help to undertake important ARC GIS mapping, landowner and stakeholder contact and will help us to develop a range of supporting materials for our work on nature’s recovery. This is a great opportunity for newcomers to this area of work.
We are looking for someone with a passion for nature’s recovery, who enjoys working as part of a team. You will have demonstrable aptitude in administrating and organising individual pieces of work, ARC GIS mapping, and communicating to a range of people in a variety of styles. You should be motivated to support colleagues in taking action for nature, and have a demonstrable enthusiasm for helping nature’s recovery. A working knowledge of climate change, rewilding, nature restoration and species restoration is also desirable. A large part of the support work will be landowner based, so some experience and knowledge around landscape scale nature conservation is also useful.
