Location: Southerham, Woods Mill, with travel across Sussex

Salary: £30,513.75

Contract Type: Fixed Term Maternity cover – 1 year

Hours: Full time 35 hrs per week with regular weekend work required

The Role:

We are looking for a passionate and hardworking person to join our team as Volunteer Manager.

The successful applicant will be responsible for developing and implementing the Trusts Volunteering Strategy. The post holder will develop and manage volunteers across Sussex Wildlife Trust. This includes volunteers helping to look after our nature reserves, or helping monitor wildlife, or working with people of all ages engaging them with Wildlife in Sussex. Work will include helping to oversee recruitment and engagement of volunteers, coordinate volunteer opportunities, and support and training programmes, organising and promoting events, activities and corporate volunteering.

The role will be the first point of contact for any volunteering enquiries; welcoming new volunteers, educating them about our mission and inspiring positive action. The role will also ensure a varied and inclusive programme of volunteer training, activities and opportunities as well as engage and include new audiences of all ages, backgrounds and abilities,

The role will liaise with and support staff who manage volunteers and assist those staff to deliver comprehensive and inclusive volunteer support and development. Support and communicate with existing volunteers

The Person:

We are looking for someone who has experience in working with and managing volunteers, has good communication and organisational skills, is outgoing and confident in talking to new people, and has a passion for nature conservation and protecting the local environment.

The role is full time and will involve regular weekend work.
