Rye Harbour Discovery Centre
The Discovery Centre, which is currently under construction, will be Sussex Wildlife Trust’s first visitor centre and has been generously supported by The Friends of Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, the local community and a range of funders. The 1,110 acre reserve is one of the most biodiverse places in Britain and also hosts a range of historic buildings. The Discovery Centre will offer a new and exciting visitor experience for supporters, regulars and new visitors. This will be led by a catering and retail experience that will deliver amazing customer service and develop the long term commercial viability of the Discovery Centre, which in turn will boost the reserve’s conservation capabilities, improving habitats for endangered species and securing a more sustainable future for the reserve.
The Café Manager will be responsible for developing the new café at the Rye Harbour Discovery Centre, including team development, creation of menus, sourcing suppliers and managing profitability and cost effectiveness. Whilst boosting customer engagement and loyalty through the delivery of exceptional customer service. Working with the Rye Harbour Discovery Centre manager to identify new opportunities and make strategic decisions for the future development of this new enterprise. To be a champion for local produce, eco-friendly business management and an advocate for developing links within the local community.
You will need to have significant experience of working as a manager in the Food and Beverage industry with excellent leadership and team management skills. Ability to lead, motivate and train your team, you’ll be a leader in the provision of exceptional customer service with ability to deliver training as required to support the team and volunteers. With relevant current qualifications in food and hygiene and hospitality/customer service industry. As the centre will be open seven days a week, you will be comfortable working varied hours and shifts including weekends, evenings and bank holidays.
