Rye Harbour Discovery Centre
The Discovery Centre is Sussex Wildlife Trust’s first visitor centre and has been generously supported by The Friends of Rye Harbour Nature Reserve, the local community and a range of funders. The 1,110 acre reserve is one of the most biodiverse places in Britain and also hosts a range of historic buildings. The Discovery Centre will offer a new and exciting visitor experience for supporters, regulars and new visitors. This will be led by a catering and retail experience that will deliver amazing customer service and develop the long term commercial viability of the Discovery Centre, which in turn will boost the reserve’s conservation capabilities, improving habitats for endangered species and securing a more sustainable future for the reserve.
A new and exciting opportunity to join the team in our new flagship visitor centre at Rye Harbour Nature Reserve.Working in our environmentally friendly Lime Kiln Café supporting the café team in providing exceptional customer service to all our visitors.
With a passion for food and motivating staff and volunteers, you will have experience in the catering sector. With responsibilities in assisting in the overall operation of the café including, food prep, cooking to agreed RHDC guidelines, general kitchen duties, stock control and helping keep our food hygiene paperwork updated. Servery which will include making hot drinks and serving cakes etc. Making sure fridges and food displays are clean, tidy and topped up, clearing and cleaning tables, cash handling and EPOS.As the centre will be open seven days a week, you will be comfortable working varied hours and shifts including weekends, evenings and bank holidays.
